28. September 2026

We are pleased to announce an important milestone: Our practice, Dr. Baron & Associates, under the medical direction of Prof. Dr. Andreas Kurth, has been officially certified as an outpatient center specializing in osteology by the German Osteology Association (DVO).
This award is presented exclusively to institutions that meet the highest quality standards in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with bone metabolism disorders. The certification confirms our long-standing specialization in modern osteology and our commitment to providing medical care at the highest scientific level.
What does DVO certification mean?
The German Osteology Association (DVO) is the leading scientific society for bone disorders in Germany. Only practices and clinics that meet strict quality criteria are certified as centers specializing in osteology.
These include, among other things:
- Treatment of more than 400 patients with bone disorders per year
- Diagnosis and Treatment According to the Current Scientific DVO Guidelines
- Regular training and quality assurance measures
- Close collaboration with specialized partners from various fields
- Modern diagnostic imaging and specialized laboratory diagnostics
For our patients, this means one thing above all else: medical care that meets the highest scientific standards.
Center of Excellence for Osteoporosis and Complex Bone Disorders
Most people initially associate osteology with osteoporosis. In fact, however, modern bone medicine encompasses much more than that.
At our osteology center of excellence, we diagnose and treat, among other conditions:
- Osteoporosis
- Bone Metabolic Disorders
- Stress Fractures
- Bone marrow edema
- Osteonecrosis
- Paget’s disease
- Rare metabolic disorders of the skeleton
- Inflammatory bone diseases (osteomyelitis)
- Benign and malignant bone tumors
Our goal is to identify the cause of a disease at an early stage and to initiate a personalized treatment plan. Especially in the case of bone diseases, an early diagnosis is often crucial to the long-term success of treatment.
State-of-the-art diagnostics for maximum safety
An accurate diagnosis is the foundation of any successful treatment.
Our practice uses state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures, including:
- Bone Density Measurement (DXA)
- REMS Ultrasound for Radiation-Free Assessment of Bone Quality
- Comprehensive specialized laboratory diagnostics of bone metabolism
- modern imaging techniques
- Sarcopenia Diagnostics for Assessing Muscle Health
By combining these tests, we can assess individual fracture risk much more accurately and tailor treatment optimally to the needs of our patients.
Interdisciplinary Care from a Single Source
Bone disorders often involve multiple medical specialties. That is why we work closely with specialists in endocrinology, rheumatology, oncology, radiology, and orthopedics.
This interdisciplinary collaboration enables efficient communication, rapid diagnoses, and coordinated treatment—especially for complex or rare bone metabolism disorders.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Kurth – Many years of experience in osteology
Prof. Dr. Andreas Kurth, one of Germany’s most renowned osteologists, serves as the medical director of our center specializing in osteology.
With decades of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and complex bone disorders, he combines scientific expertise with personalized, patient-centered care. Together with our entire team, he is committed to providing modern, evidence-based medicine of the highest standard.
Why is early diagnosis of osteoporosis so important?
Osteoporosis often develops unnoticed over many years. The condition is often not diagnosed until after a bone fracture occurs.
Yet modern diagnostic methods can identify an individual’s risk much earlier. Treatment started in a timely manner can prevent bone fractures, preserve quality of life, and avoid long-term limitations.
People aged 50 and older, postmenopausal women, and patients with certain pre-existing conditions or who are undergoing long-term corticosteroid therapy benefit in particular from early bone density testing.
